The Rev. Dr. John A. Messmann serves as senior pastor at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Born and raised in a farming community near Ft. Wayne, Ind., he spent a year in the School of Agriculture at Purdue University before turning instead to the study of pastoral ministry at Concordia University in Ann Arbor, Mich., and at Concordia Senior College in Ft. Wayne. Pastor Messmann earned a Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Mo., and a Doctorate of Ministry from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Ill.
John Messmann is married to Sharon Perron, a native of Detroit, Mich., who holds a bachelor of arts degree from Concordia University in River Forest, Ill., and a master of arts degree in Reading from Oakland University in Rochester, Mich. Sharon is currently our Regional Coordinator for Lutheran Special Education Ministries. The Messmanns are the parents of a daughter and two sons.
Pastor Messmann enjoys having time to be with his family and wood-working. He has been the Senior Pastor at St. Paul since 1992, after serving as a staff pastor in Dundee, Ill., and Utica, Mich.

Rev. Bud Beverly serves as the Executive Pastor and Director of Pastoral Care at St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he also holds responsibilities for Stephen Ministry, Men's Ministry, and Koinonia & Prayer.
Born and raised in a small community in northwestern Montana, Bud and his wife, Judy, were high school sweethearts and married right after college. Bud has degrees from the University of Montana, the University of Oklahoma, and Brite Divinity School at TCU. Judy completed her nurse’s training at St. Patrick’s School of Nursing, and has a degree in Health Care Administration from East Texas State University. She is Health Care Coordinator for the Birdville School District.
They have been at St. Paul since 2000. Pastor Beverly has served other Texas churches in Greenville, Euless, Corsicana, and West Fort Worth. He and Judy have two married daughters and five grandchildren. In addition to their work, they enjoy their grandchildren, reading, traveling and snow skiing.

Peter Couser is currently serving as the interim Director of Worship at St. Paul Lutheran Church, and also oversees ministry at The Summit, St. Paul's multi-site campus in Aledo.
Born in Hinsdale, Ill., just outside of Chicago, Peter lived there until age 15 when the Couser family moved to Texas in 1988. Peter graduated from Texas Christian University in 1995 with a degree in Radio-TV-Film, and aspired to work in sports broadcasting.
It was in the fall of 1992 when he first came to St. Paul and started volunteering at the church with youth activities, some coaching and substitute teaching. He served as a youth ministry intern in the summer of 1995 and moved into a staff position developed for him in the area of college ministry and young adults in September of that year.
Peter married Amy Alexander, an Aggie from Whitesboro, Texas, in 1999. They became parents of a son in 2003. Peter is amazed at how he has been richly blessed through his marriage, his family, his St. Paul family, and through the ministry that God has entrusted to him here.

Sue Davis serves the St. Paul congregation as director of Children & Family Ministries. Born and raised in St. Paul, Minn., Sue is a true northerner. She graduated from the DCE program at Concordia University in St. Paul with an emphasis in youth and music. Sue and husband, Phil, have moved all over the country, thanks to his job with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. They are the parents of two daughters and a son. Sue is currently director of children’s, women’s, and family ministries at St. Paul. Her hobbies are working in the yard and reading. Chuck Wendt serves the St. Paul congregation as Church Administrator. Born in Milwaukee, Wis., he attended the city's public schools and later attended college. He married Judy in 1964 and the Lord blessed them with three offspring. They now have three grandchildren as well. Chuck’s grandchildren, as well as camping and golf, are his favorite pastimes. Chuck worked for 30 years in the truck rental industry and eight years in commercial property management before assuming his current duties at St. Paul Church. After graduation from Concordia University in Austin, TX in 2003, Bobby spent three years in Homer, Alaska at Faith Lutheran. He and his wife Angie, a TCU alum, came to St. Paul in 2006.
